Written Patient Testimonials

After 2 years of trying to conceive, I went to a Western Ob/GYN who ran some tests, and concluded that I wasn’t fine. This doctor told me that my FSH levels were too high and that my only options were to either start on Clomid immediately, or to consult with a fertility specialist. At the same time that this was happening, I noticed that my general health had gone downhill (over a matter of 3 – 4 months) to the point where I was exhausted, couldn’t focus or concentrate and generally had no energy. For this problem, I had visited my general practitioner (another Western doctor), who ran multiple tests (for Lyme’s disease, thyroid, blood sugar, iron, etc.) but could find nothing wrong with me (at least according to Western medicine). Her answer was that possibly I should see a psychiatrist, as I might be suffering from depression. Not convinced with the advice I was getting on either problem, I started to do my own research (online and reading books) about other solutions and treatments, not involving drugs.

I researched Clomid, its possible side effects, and other potential infertility treatments and decided that I did not want to go that route (yet, at least). I was committed to finding a natural, non-invasive solution to my fertility problems and my general health issues. After researching online for a bit and reading countless books, including The Infertility Cure, by Randine Lewis, I decided to try an Eastern medicine approach, utilizing acupuncture, Chinese herbs and dietary changes. For starters, I gave up wheat, dairy, sugar, caffeine, alcohol and processed foods. In addition, I found Family Acupuncture through Google and met with Adam Learner to get a full evaluation. Adam recommended a treatment course, involving weekly acupuncture and daily herbs.

After 3 months of treatment at the Family Acupuncture clinic, including weekly acupuncture and daily herbs, I conceived (naturally) in January 2008. I had a fantastic (very easy) pregnancy and an absolutely perfect baby – Isabel! In addition, within a month of receiving the initial treatments, my general health, appearance and energy levels improved significantly and continued to improve all the way through to conception (and beyond). Now, contemplating our second attempt at conceiving, we will definitely be taking the same route. I cannot recommend enough the Eastern medicine approach. It is non-invasive and very beneficial to your overall health. In addition, there are no potential negative side effects to you or your baby, so you can sleep well throughout the pregnancy, knowing that you have done everything to ensure a wonderful, healthy start for your child!
