Herbal Medicine
Herbs play a major role in the way modern Chinese medicine is practiced
In China today, approximately 80% of all patients who seek Chinese (non-Western) medical care also seek out herbal therapy. Unlike Western medications which oftentimes function by suppressing symptoms, herbal medicines stimulate the body’s innate healing response to restore normal, balanced physiological function.
In many cases, patients will feel a difference in their symptoms within the first few days and weeks of treatment, while some chronic conditions may take several months to resolve completely.
Clinical studies from China, Japan, Korea, Europe, and the US have shown that Chinese herbal medicine can effectively treat a wide range of diseases. It treats acute conditions such as colds, flu, and intestinal disorders, and is also extremely effective at treating chronic conditions such as gynecological issues, allergies, degenerative disorders, digestive problems, viral infections, and autoimmune diseases. One of Chinese herbal medicine’s greatest attributes is its ability to strengthen the body to facilitate self-healing. At the same time, it also offsets the often harsh side effects of Western drug therapies.
At Family Acupuncture & Wellness, our patients receive individualized herbal prescriptions tailored to their personal health conditions. The herbs are usually given in the powdered form, which is easily made into teas. All herbs are processed according to strict GMP standards and do not utilize alcohol or chemicals in their processing.
